Our daily routine.

The first day of school seems far away, the tears are left behind. All the children are happy and adapted.

It is very important to understand that this is a normal process in Pre-K and Kindergarten schooling. Children go from being in contact with a few people (mom, dad, grandmother, grandfather, babysitter …), to being with completely unknown people and at unknown place.Parents often ask me how we go from the first situation to the second so quickly. There are two answers: With caring and daily work on routines.

A teacher needs to be caring to understand the needs of younger children, respect their adaptation process, and gain their confidence to be part of the group of people with whom they feel comfortable, with whom they are attached.

Once this happens then the separation anxiety subsides and the children begin to explore the environment, they can start learning! I remember how Elsa clung to her father’s neck, she didn’t want to stay at school and now she has the biggest smile when she sees me in the morning. That is why it is important to work on the routines from the first moment.

A routine is something that you do every day in the same way. So children understand their environment and manage time in a better way. The first few days Connie asked me: “What are we going to do now?” every 5 minutes. She no longer asks me. You know that in the morning after breakfast, we start the day saying hello, singing and dancing, which she loves! Then we work, snack and play! Every day the same procedure, different activities and contents but the same routine. In this way, children know what they are going to do at school and that makes them feel comfortable and safe.
